I graduated from University of Birmingham in 2000 with a 2:1 BSc Honours degree in Psychology. In 2004, I gained my Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (mental health) and registered nurse status from University of Central England. I hold full, current professional registration as a mental health nurse with the UK Nursing and Midwifery Council. I have extensive experience working in the fields of inpatient and community mental health, homeless mental health services, addictions services, forensic mental health and social care, learning difficulties, and children’s health services. As a parent to 2 autistic children, I also have significant lived experience of supporting autistic people and interfacing with education, health and support services in an advocacy role.
My academic and professional background means that I have developed skills in:
- thorough research techniques,
- producing concise, comprehensive and accurate work to a graduate and postgraduate level.
- professional report writing
Through my autism blog and social media, I have developed a more informal writing style that aims to engage and entertain the reader, as well as informing them about the topic in hand.
